From April to July 1944 Miriam was detained in the Kistarcsa camp near Budapest. Thanks to her knowledge of German, she worked in the camp office. She forged the documents of 80 Jewish men and wrote that they had not yet reached the age of sixteen. Thanks to this forgery they were released and arrived in Budapest. The forgery was discovered and Miriam was interrogated. She admitted her crime and was sentenced to deportation to the death camps but luckily she remained in the Kistarcsa camp where she was released in September 1944.
